Her photos will make you want to quit your day job. The life she lives will inspire you to travel more and often. Her drive for exploring nature and immersing herself in the unknown is something that might challenge your beliefs and fears… Meet Chelsea Yamase, also known as Chelsea Kauai. An Instagram sensation and what some may call an “influencer”. But, there is more to this beauty than meets the eye. Behind the picturesque scenery, the beautiful landscapes and the ever-changing backdrop is a humble, intelligent, humorous, caring and adventurous soul sharing her creativity, knowledge and love for nature.
A lover of heights, fearless in the open ocean, a graceful slack liner, deep thinker, old-soul and a woman who isn’t afraid to publicly share her feelings (and bloopers that will have you in fits of laughter). Her raw-ness and real-ness in her posts, speak to the soul in a language that is poetic, informative and unassuming. Her rise to fame in the photography and Instagram world hasn’t come easy. Chelsea lives the life she has created for herself through hard work, determination, persistence, honesty and through ultimately pursuing things she is most passionate about – environmental conservation, adventure, travel, fitness and wellness, reflection of self and by asking her viewers to question society and the choices we make in our day to day lives. It is living her truth that has lead her to this path and she begs us to do the same, whatever that truth may be…
With her heart in Hawaii, but her feet on the road, Chelsea has explored all parts of the world taking us to hard-to-find places and always sticking by her motto – “Live simply, explore often. Consume mindfully”. Inspiring is an understatement. Her life is an ode to the meaning of adventure. We are thankful for meeting and collaborating with Chelsea on her quest to make this world a bigger and brighter place.

Describe your job… best job in the world. For me. Haha it’s equal parts creating content, researching locations, emailing with companies, and keeping up with the physical competency of everything I do.
Where is home? On the road and on Kauai.
Take us through your typical day: There is no such thing, which is great and also sometimes overwhelming. Today I woke up at 3:45 am to drive into the mountains for sunrise. We shot some photos, had a huge breakfast and then I took a nap. Now I’ll work on the computer doing emails for a few hours before getting out for sunset. Most days I suppose have all of the those elements, just the timing changes.
If you weren’t in social media what would you be doing? I really enjoy educating (and learning) so perhaps a teacher. I may have also chosen to continue working as a designer. It’s still a creative environment and I loved reading the newspaper or magazine articles before they came out.
What is one thing most people wouldn’t know about you?
I’m terrified of geckos. I will cry if one is hiding in my things or jumps on me.
Favourite travel destination? Any place where big mountains meet the ocean. Indonesia is one of my favorites, along with French Polynesia.
Who inspires you? Fellow creatives and friends inspire me the most for photography. Kimi Werner has been a huge role model for me in the last 8 years or so in terms of a life path. The way she lives and how steadfast she is in her values is something I admire so much.
Career highlight? Oh gosh I don’t know if I have one. Seeing a photo I took as an ad in Time Magazine. Learning to be vulnerable to hundreds of thousands of people. Hands down my favorite moments are those when people take the time to reach out and say I’ve inspired them or changed their lives. It is something I will never ever get used to and it humbles me like nothing I’ve ever experienced.
What are the 5 things you pack when you go traveling that you can’t live without?
Reusable water bottle, backpack (with a rain cover), face wipes (I have ones that smell like eucalyptus), snacks, my Mali Riviera Dress by Beachgold and a bikini because you just never know!
Parting words of advice…. Read more, it’s adventure and exercise for you mind. Be courageous, it’s good for your soul. Drink more water
